Yellowfin are easily identified by it's beauty. A yellowfin's finlets are bright yellow. Most conspicuous are the enlongated rays both on the second dorsal and anal fins. Yellowfin tuna display brilliant body markings. A prominent gold streak decorates it's sides fading into neon blue then black up towards the dorsal fin. Iridescent dot of turquoise line it's belly running horizontally against mother of pearl between the pectoral fins and tail.
Like most pelagic fish in the Gulf of Mexico, yellowfin can be caught year round but the best months have always been November, February and August.
