Finally wind and tide together. Water is still pretty clear. Had Pete, D.J. and Courtney of Dallas today. Things started off quickly with Black Fins. Another 10 minutes Pete hooked up and with in seconds D.J. also. The two lines were close together and we tried to figure out how to untangle them. Needless to say this Yellow Fin was hungry as he had inhaled both baits. The team effort quickly whipped the 106 pounder. Another 15 minutes and, yeah, you guessed it another double hook up, except 2 fish this time. An hour later D.J. landed his 137 pounder. Thirty minutes later Pete landed his 149.9 pounder. For an hour while the two guys were fighting their fish we had "Mongo" (easily 175# plus Yellow Fin) at the back of the boat, but, with the guys busy fighting their fish it didn't seem wise to hook up a 3rd one at the time. By the time the fish were subdued "Mongo" was gone. Looks like things are turning on at the "Lump". The elusive "Mongo" is still out there guy's. Tight Lines and be Safe, Pete Fill 251-981-4510

Beautiful day on the "Lump" current still against the wind and water clear 50' to 60'. Started off with a couple of Black Fins and Bonitas. Hooked up with a good bite which acted like a Tuna then went screaming off and a 300# to 400# Mako started his acrobatics jumping 15' in the air. Awesome sight till the mono finally got cut. Got back on the anchor ball and within 5 minutes had 3 Yellow Fin Tuna over 150# in the slick. Hooked the smallest one which was a screamer and had to get off the anchor and chase him. Four hours and nineteen minutes later the crazy 165# Yellow Fin came over the rail. Tight Lines and be Safe, Capt. Pete Fill 251-981-4510

Finally back out there Wednesday, after loosing weekend to the weather, with the "Fly Guys" from Pensacola. Tough fishing conditions clear water, current against the wind and mixed up currents. Seemed to be an absence of King's and Sharks compared to weeks past. Got bit off by big Wahoos in chum slick and saw a bit of surface activity by large Tuna bites. Tom who drove from Maine to fish with his Pensacola buddies managed to land a 169.9# Yellow Fin Tuna. High fives all around and it was heard Tom said it was well worth the drive. Things are shaping up. See you out there. Tight Lines and be Safe. Capt. Pete 251-981-4510

Calm, beautiful day on the "Lump". After working our way through Sharks, Kings and various other species we finally were able to catch some Black Fins and 3 Yellow's. Johnny "B" and friends from Texas landed a 60#, 80# and a 190#. I guess variety is the spice of life. Tight Lines and be Safe, Capt. Pete P.S. Brian thank's for the coffee mug. It works great.

Conditions today were 2 to 3 feet with water clariety excellent at 50 to 60'. Lot's of action with mystery bites and big Black Fins, AJ's and a few King's. Would love to say we caught some big "Yellow Fins", but, it didn't happen. Maybe some of our fellow charter boat's had better luck in that department. As someone once said "Some day's are diamonds". Wednesday good weather - fair fishing with Black Fins, Kings, AJ's and Sharks. Had one good yellow fin on but the line was parted due to a shark. Later in the day we tangled with a 500# Mako for approx. 45 minutes and then pulled the dart. Some exciting while it lasted. Thursday Tom Myers of Pensacola had the honor of landing the "Lump's first Yellow Fin" of 2004, a 90 pounder thrown in with som Black Fins, Kings and AJ's up to 50#'s. Seems to be a few more Tuna showing up on the Lump. Be back out there tomorrow. Tight Lines and be Safe, Capt. Pete Yankee Star Charters 251-981-4510

No Mosquitoes' or boats on the "Lump" when we arrived Sunday morning with the Sutter and Gomlicker group of Arkansas. Conditions were less than favorable, the 4 to 6 foot seas (then occasional 8's) SE wind 15-20 knots, and current against the wind. Trolled approx. 30 minutes for a limit of Kings. Set the anchor and were covered up with Bonitos, Kings some AJ's and big Hammerheads. After a couple hours and some "Mystery Bites" our perseverance paid off with a good Tuna bite. Two hours of a team effort by the party and traveling over 2 miles off the anchor we subdued a crazy 141# Yellow Fin Tuna. Canceled today and Tuesday due to weather. Will be back out there Wednesday.

Still catching Bull Reds on the beach here in Orange Beach with fly and light tackle. We'll be heading over to Venice in a couple of weeks. Looking forward to seeing everyone. We've been gearing up for another "Lump" season for Tuna and Wahoo. We still have a few days available in January and February for charters so give us a call and we'll be happy to set you up. Capt. A recent Rod'n Reel Newsletter indicates that Yankee Star is now an advertiser here. I'll put a plug in for Pete: We often fish near the Yankee Star on the lumps - they catch fish! They are also properly courteous to other boats fishing near them. Cap'n Pete is a a pleasure to be around and to talk fishing with - he knows some tricks of the trade that produce on the tough days. Anyone chartering with him should have a great time on a comfortable and well maintained boat. Bob Woods
