Speckled Trout in the 4-7 pound range on almost every cast ?
Hard to believe but at the right time of the year The Charter Boat Teaser Fishing Team Capt's Frank Lawson, Hunter Charvet, Jeff Roe, Carl Cerullo, and Mike Frenette catch beautiful trout like this regularly. Now of course timing is everything with the right time of the year starting around late April through June being excellent, and then again mid august through early October being quite productive . During the other months trout in the 1-3 lb. range are caught regularly on the Teaser fishing fleet . Capt. Mike Frenette and his crew fish in the most productive waters of the United States, that being those waters which surround Cypress Cove Marina , which is located near the end of the Mississippi River , |

south of New Orleans. When pursuing Trophy Trout Capt. Mike Frenette and his Capts. target these fish during there spawning times which run concurrently during the peak seasons. The Teaser Fishing Team targets oil and gas platforms usually in waters between the depths of 8-25 ft., preferring to fish around the platforms that have shell bottoms or flow lines extending off the platforms. Early in the season monster trout will readily take artificial baits , especially soft plastics worked extremely slow on the bottom. Now as the season progresses live baits such as croakers, mullet , and shrimp will also prove to be productive. The Teaser Fishing Team suggests using tackle in the 8-12 lb. test range , spinning or bait casting reels but using rods in the 7-71/2 ft. in length . The reason for the long rods is for sensitivity. Although you would assume so, large trout quite often will bite real soft and heavier tackle, a bite may not be detected. Congratulations to Capt. Mike Frenette's wife Lori who caught this monster 8 1/4 lb. trout under one of the platforms in blk. 21 of Brenton Sound. |
