2000 SPORTSMEN'S HALL OF FAME INDUCTEES

Tony Accardo, owner of Accardo Baits, started this family business in Baton Rouge many years ago. He is a legendary fly fishermen and manufacturer of the world famous "Accardo's Popping Bugs." According to fishing enthusiasts, the "Popping Bugs" have been used to catch tens of thousands of fish over the years. Tony started his career as a newspaper journalist in Baton Rouge. His aptitude for making terrific fish flies inspired him to start a family business specializing in this craft. He then acquired Fayard's Fly Fishing Company and began a worldwide distribution for his flies and the famous "Popping Bugs." His company is still owned and operated by he and his family and employs a large work force made up of many handicapped workers.

Frank Davis is a talented fisherman whose fish and game reports on WWL-Channel 4 television have entertained and delighted television audiences for many years. Frank started his career with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries in the Information and Education Department as a writer for the department's magazine. Leaving Wildlife & Fisheries, Frank began his broadcast career at WWL-AM Radio before moving on the WWL-TV. Currently he is the host of "The Fishing Game Report" which airs Thursdays at 10 p.m. Over the years, Frank has authored numerous magazine articles in a variety of hunting and fishing publications. In addition to his expertise as a true Louisiana sportsman, Frank loves to cook and hosts "In The Kitchen With Frank Davis" also on WWL-TV every Tuesday morning. His love for cooking has also inspired him to create his own line of seasonings.

Huey Sanders is an expert turkey caller and hunter. As a long-time employee of the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, he worked first as a game warden and then as Supervisor of Education, giving hunting and wildlife seminars to school students and sports organizations. Huey is as one of Louisiana's most avid outdoorsmen and continues to share his knowledge and abilities with other Louisiana outdoor enthusiasts.
