Seabrook Harbor

Next to Seabrook Harbor, a world-class marina on Lake Pontchartrain, is Seabrook Marine, an operation dedicated to taking care of the needs of every boat and every boater. Located on a sprawling 15-acre site on Lake Pontchartrain, this veritable “fix it all shop” is owned and operated by Dwight, David and Jeff Montz, who own Seabrook Harbor. The New Orleans family established Seabrook Marine with the same goals they had in mind for their marina – placing an emphasis on customer service and satisfaction. The Montzes and Seabrook Marine can take care of anything and everything anglers and boaters could want.

While Seabrook Harbor has essentially redefined the perception of marinas in Louisiana, Seabrook Marine has raised the bar for marine repair and maintenance facilities across the Gulf Coast.

“Seabrook Marine is basically the repair side of our business,” said David Montz. “There’s not much that we cannot do here.”

Seabrook Marine is conveniently located next to Seabrook Harbor, only a short drive from the central business district in New Orleans. Within the complex is a series of large, open shops, each dedicated to a different discipline, such as electronics, carpentry, fiberglass and painting. Here their teams of experienced professionals can handle any project, regardless of how large or how small. The staff specializes in just about every phase of marine maintenance and repair, from routine stripping and re-coating and painting hulls, to custom carpentry work with the finest teak and mahogany woods. They can even perform most types of shaft work on engines.

Owners of larger boats, sailboats, powerboats and yachts will be impressed. With a travel lift capable of transporting vessels up to 77 tons, there’s not much that Seabrook Marine cannot handle. Montz said they would soon have a new lift that can handle boats up to 85 tons. Owners of larger boats and yachts are well aware of the importance of hull maintenance. Vessels that cannot be removed from the water regularly and cleaned develop aquatic vegetation, barnacles, etc. and must be cleaned, stripped and repainted every 18 to 24 months. The staffers at Seabrook Marine are pros at they use only the finest anti-fouling paint products.

“We cater mostly to 30- to 80-foot yachts and sailboats,” said Jeff Montz, David’s brother. “But not just bottom jobs. We do everything from putting on extensions to recoating (hulls) with fiberglass.”

They can also remove engines and generators from any boat. Seabrook Marine is a distributor of three of the finest marine generators on the market – Phasor, Next Generation and Fisher-Panda. They sell and install generators in sizes of 3.5 kw to 120 kw.

Seabrook Marine employs some of the finest marine craftsmen in the Gulf South, and the proof is in their work. Whether you need a minor change in the décor of a stateroom, a new appliance added to your galley, or want to replace a cat rail, Seabrook Marine can do it.

“We also take care of a lot of masts and rigging work for sailboats,” said David Montz. “The repair side of our business is about 50 percent pleasure boats and yachts, and 50 percent sailboats.”

Whether you have a hull that is in need of a paint job, or your sailboat needs some mast or rigging work, give Seabrook Marine a call. There is no job too big or too small. And they can take care of it all.
