Seabrook Harbor

Located less than a half mile from the Seabrook Bridge (5801 France Road), Seabrook Harbor is conveniently nestled between New Orleans and estuaries so productive that they are ranked among the top six on the Gulf Coast. The Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Borgne regions have produced the three largest trout (certified on record) ever caught on rod and reel in Louisiana. These include the number one fish (12.38 pounds) caught by the late Leon Mattes in 1950; Capt. Kenny Kreeger’s 11.99-pound number two speck and Jason Troullier’s 11.24 trout, both caught in 1999.

“It is an amazing fishery,” Montz said. “The lake is healthier now that it’s been in more than a generation.”

Montz said while Lake Pontchartrain is currently ranked the third best place in the state to catch speckled trout, he believes it is a vastly underrated resource.

“We have some of the best fishing in the world and it’s all so close,” Montz said. “There’s the Rigolets, where some of the larger fish are caught. And Seabrook Bridge is literally minutes away. A lot of people are now fishing before work, coming in to shower, and making it to the office by 9 a.m.”

There is literally no end to the fishing and boating possibilities at Seabrook Marine. Give them a call to find out today to find out for yourself at (504) 283-6001.
