FWC to distribute homeland security equipment
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) will distribute
homeland security equipment provided by the Dept. of Homeland Security to
representatives from various law enforcement agencies throughout the state. The
event will occur Tuesday, Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. at the Florida Dept. of Agriculture, 3125 Conner Blvd., Tallahassee.
FWC is the lead state agency for planning and coordination of the Regional
Domestic Security Task Force’s waterborne response teams. The teams protect
Florida’s ports, waterways and infrastructure. Equipment will be on display.
FWC officials will be available for comment from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at a
static display of Waterborne Response Team vessels and mobile command
facilities, which will be adjacent to the Department of Agriculture building.
Note: This event may be postponed if Hurricane Dean poses a threat to
