Steve Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Capts. Tommy Martin, Daryl Dispensire, Bobby Bryan, and Tony Sibille took out Performance Contractors from Baton Rouge on Friday and Saturday, May 29 and 30.  Bobby and Tommy limited out both days on trout, while Daryl and Tony both came in with a good number of trout themselves.  Each captain took their fishermen to different areas, but the majority of the fish were caught on plastic and minnows near the islands. Those who limited out, did so before noon, and returned in time for lunch and an afternoon nap.

Capt. Daryl took another small group out into the marsh later that afternoon and limited out on redfish. Everyone had a great time and is looking forward to a return trip.

Steve Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Andy Bryan and his friends from Monroe did not get into any redfish on Wednesday after their spectacular trout fishing, so Mark Baudean offered to take Andy, his wife, Michelle, and daughter, Kara to try a few of his favorite redfish holes on Thursday.
Also fishing was Andy's brother, Steve.
The group set out at around 8:00 AM Thursday morning. After the first few holes with no success, Steve suggested the group try a spot that he and Mark had previously fished.

After reaching their destination, and two or three casts, Andy caught a nice red, and the fight was on!!Michelle limited out by 11:00 AM and had to watch as the others fished. Kara reeled in two and then became the official "netter," helping everyone get their fish in the boat. She decided to fish again and hooked a huge red that broke off, taking her green cork. Mark started the trolling motor and chased the green cork for at least thirty minutes.  Andy attempted to catch the cork with his line and almost got it to the boat, but the fish had other ideas and took off again. Everyone finally gave up and the group headed back, just 2 fish shy of their limit. Therefore, we have named this "secret" spot, The Green Cork Hole. Mark was a gracious host, and finished off the trip by cleaning all of their catch for Andy, Michelle, and Kara.

That evening, about 6:00 PM, Mark and Steve took their wives, Carmen and Kathy, to the "secret" spot, and in less than an hour, the group picked up six nice reds and two trout. There were some really big ones that evening, too. The group had at least six that did not make it to the boat.
Mark lost his rod in the water while netting a fish that Steve caught. He was fortunate enough to be able to retrieve it by pulling up his cork.

On Tuesday, May 26, Burg Ransom, Carl Brown, Adam Ryland, and Andy Bryan and their famililes from Monroe, Louisiana made the trip to Grand Isle for a "getaway" trip.  On Wednesday the guys made the trip "up" to Leeville to meet Capt. Tommy Martin at 5:45 AM.  They headed to the general area of Danger Island to try their luck. The first five casts picked up 5 huge trout. The fish stopped biting so Capt. Tommy moved to a different location where they began to get regular strikes.  The fish were biting so well, that Capt. Tommy told Andy to give him his rod and he would put two jigs, so he could catch two fish. The next three casts he caught two fish at a time. While reeling in the third cast, he felt an enormous pull on his line and found that a black-tipped shark had bitten one of his trout half in two. The sharks were really bad that day!

Later, Capt. Tommy took the group to a secret location looking for some reds.
The reds were being stubborn and would not cooperate, but the guys did pick up another 12 to 15 nice trout. The end count for this trip was a total of 123 trout.

The guys had a great time and told Capt. Tommy they were looking forward to doing this again next year.

Luke Hutson, Kyle Freeman, and Tanner Pirtle from Odessa, Texas went with Captain Bobby Bryan to Timbalier Bay on Memorial Day weekend. Fishing started out slowly, but by 10:00 AM they were jumping in the boat. Capt. Bobby called another guide to let him know how well the fish were biting. Ending fish count was 39 trout, 1 red, and 2 white trout. The guys had a great time and left to check out Bourbon Street in New Orleans.  We hope they made it back home okay.

Hey everyone,
   It's been a while since we have had our site updated due to hurricanes Katrina, Gustav, and Ike, but we HAVE been fishing.  It seems like we have been constantly rebuilding/restoring our facilities for the last few years, and they are now bigger and better than before.
    We can accommodate a lot more overnight visitors as well as guided fishing trips.  We've recently added several new guides to our "crew" who have been really bringing in the fish!
    We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you soon!!!

The Gar are just starting to move in the marsh now also.

  If you are wanting to try one of the most exiting and fast paced sports email me or call us at 985-396-2980. If you are wanting to try your skills with a rod and reel call 985-396-2411. We offer Inshore, Offshore, coastal and Bowfishing charters with lodging packages avaiable.

Hi Fishermen;

  Today was a better day than Sat. Even though the winds were still howlling the fish were in a better mood.

  I fished with Tim Fitzpatrick and his family in the western marsh area of Leeville today. We threw live minnows under a popping cork over the oyster flats. The tide was on the rise and with a SSE wind there was plenty of places to fish. We saw lots of Reds moving in the shallows but only managed to net 14. The moving water ditches held nice trout also. They had 12 of them. Like I said not the best day but they are getting better everytime we go out.

   If you are interested in booking a trip email me or call us at 985-396-2411.

Hi Fishermen;

  We had another hard windy day in the marsh today. I fished for Martin Pro Guide Service [Tommy Martin] in the Leeville marshes for Reds and Trout. My boat threw live minnows under a cork to catch 13 Trout and 3 Reds. Not my best day but we were proud of everyone of them. The wind howled all day long to make casting a challenge. We saw alot of Reds along the shallow banks with their backs out of water but couldn't get them to hit anything.

 Oh well tommorrow is another day.

  If you are interested in flying a kite now would be the right time, but if you want to challenge your fishing skills email us or call me at 985-396-2411. We offer Inshore, Offshore, Costal and Bowfishing charters with lodging packages avaiable.

Marsh/Coastal Fishing Report

Capt. Dan Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen;

  Its been a few weeks since I have posted my reports so here is the latest updates. The bowfishing has been GREAT. The marsh is full of Reds right now. We have been seeing large numbers of fish over the oyster beds and in the flats. For the most part the water has been fairly clear so being able to spot them has been easy. It's hitting them that seems to be the problem. Most new shooters have this false idea it is like shooting fish in a barrel. Boy are they surprised we they try it for the first time.

   The day fishing is a different story. Everyday is a new challenge, mainly the wind or the gnats. We have had good luck with both Reds and Trout when the conditions would allow. The fish are there to be caught when we can get to them. Live minnows on a jighead has been the best or a gold spoon in clear water. I fished today with minnows under a cork and had a good day.

   If you are interested in booking a trip, emil us or call me at 985-396-2411. We offer Inshore, Offshore, Coastal and Bowfishing charters with lodging packages avaiable.

We had a rough night with Mike Malone and friends from Baton Rouge. The wind was a hand full and the waters muddy but we still managed several drum and reds. I`ve been heading toward the bays (pickett and devils bay) with an East wind I can stay on the west bank and it usually stays clear. Anyway mike is an avid hunter and fisherman and he understands mother nature.

I normally ignore people who don`t have a clue what their talking about but I`ll coment on this one. I promise anyone between all the 5 or 6 bowfishing guides on the coast we shoot less undersize fish than the quarter a million weekend anglers that have gut hooked fish. We may shoot 3 to 5 fish a year if thats to much for you I`m sorry. How many times have you heard someone say we caught and released 50 or more rat reds and I guess you think all of them lived. I rarely have anyone shoot at anything under 18 because they are impossable to hit unless by luck the average Joe can`t shoot that good. Your comments are the reason I quit putting reports on this site but believe it or not some people like to read my reports about bowfishing

Hi Fishermen;

  The fishing is GREAT in the Leeville marshes this year. Capt. Darel has been Bowfishing 3 and 4 nights a week and I have been day fishing about the same amount and we have been having great success. The marsh is full of fish. We are seeing better than 100 Reds a night and I am catching our limit with lots of catch and release fish to make for a good trip.

We had a great bowfishing trip with my good friends the Charlet`s from Zatchary and they brought several friends with them (11 all together). The night started out slow with the tide about to peak but when it turned it was unbelievable. Both boats limited out around 1:30 on reds with plenty of drum and a few sheepead.

We had a great trip Monday night with John Ryan and 5 of his friends all from N O The guys have been busting their butts in the city doing cleanup and needed a break from it all with some hot bowfishing action. The night started out a little slow with the tidal change happening right at dark but the later it got the better it got, anyway we had our limit by 1:00. 4 of the guys were first time shooters but not their last.

We had a great night with Jamie, Kay, and Jason Spillers and Jasons girlfriend Emily. The water was gin clear with reds drum and sheephead everywhere and its been this way for the last 2 months. Kay and Emily got their first fish last night and took the pictures to prove it for later bragging rights.

I`ve not put many reports in since the storms but I just got back on line and I hope I can keep the reports coming, regardless we`ve been doing good down here with plent of the regular reds, drum and sheephead.

Capt. Dan Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen;

  Man how about this weather! The fishing in the Leeville area has been great this year. The Reds are running in schools and the Trout are bitting better than ever.

  Capt. Darel and I have been Bowfishing almost every night with great success. The Reds are moving in schools of 4 to 12 fish per school. With the low water at night and the lack of wind makes for clear water the shooting is great. We have also seen and shot some nice size Trout. If you have never made a trip at night in an airboat with 14 lights you just don't know what you are missing. The ride and sights are worth comming down to see.

  The day fishing has been equally impressive. In the mornings the trout are hitting on jigs with the rising tide and the Reds are doing the same as the tide falls out. Jigs with Deadly Duddlys have been doing the best job for me but everyone has their own preferance. Most of the time the bait that works best is the one that you have the most confidence in.  There are lots of small reds in the marsh right now so measure them close.

    I'm not much into predictions but this should be a great year down here in the marsh. One of the biggest times of the year for Reds are the fall and winter months. Well the hurricanes took care of that. With the lack of money and time the marsh has been quiet. The lack of activity on top of the water means more activity under the water. Great news for the fishermen wanting to come to Leeville for something to pull on their lines. The only draw back is the lowest tides in years so take care not to run aground.

   If you are interested in booking a trip with one of out expert guides email me or call us at 985-396-2411. We offer inshore, offshore, coastal and Bowfishing charters with lodging packages avaiable.

   Thanks for reading my reports. From My Dad, Capt. Bobby, my brother, Capt. Darel and myself we want to wish the Rod and Reel staff and it's readers a great New Year.

  MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND OUR TROOPS ABROAD.

Capt. Dan Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen;

  This is a late report for the last 6 days. The fishing in Leeville has been off and on for the last few days. Wen. and Thur. the fishing was slow with a cold front and strong winds. We managed to catch just short of our limit each day with lots of throw backs.

  Friday the fishing picked up. The falling tide made the runouts the place to be. Still caught lots of under slot Reds but managed to land a limit of keepers with a dozen or so Trout to make the box look good.

  Sat, Sun amd Monday the pattern went from minnows under corks to jigheads with live minnows. We slow rolled them in the deeper canals picking up both Trout and Reds. There are lots of 15 to 15 3/4 inch Reds in the marsh this time of the year. Lots and lots of fun.

Sorry for the late report. Fished saturday with Rev. Cliff Nelson and 3 buddies. The plan was to fish redfish saturday and trout sunday. We fished the islands in timbalier bay and found redfish all over the islands. We caught plenty of keepers and a boat load of small reds that were turned back. Sunday for our trout trip we caught 50 fish with some throw back and more reds. All fish were caught on minnows under a popping cork. The fishing is great in the Leeville area now. I`ve had a few trips since the storms one night limit and the very next night a few. I think this is mostly due to the timing of the tide which has been high at night but I have a trip thurs night with my friend Regan Underwood who has been going with us for years I`ll report the results a couple of days later(I have to borrow a computer).

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen;

  If you are one of thoes guys that thinks the water is bad in Leeville, DON'T READ THIS REPORT! Its just gonna hurt your feelings.

  I fished with 4 guys fron the S. La. area Thrusday in the Leeville marsh. The Reds were bitting OK but man were the Trout turned on. We were fishing the run-outs and points with live minnows under a popping cork for both. The Reds were up close to the shore and the Trout were out away from the banks. It just depended on what you wanted to catch as to where you threw. They landed lots and lots of under slot Reds and 25 in. fish and over. We only had 11 fish between 16 and 25 in. Thats the size they wanted to keep.

  Now to the fun part. This year has been great for Trout fishing in the marsh. We didn,t get a limit but we didn't miss it by much. Almost every fish went 2 to 3 lb. We also had one of the biggest Trout I have ever seen caught in the marsh. He weighed 6 lbs and was caught in less than 1 foot of water on a live minnow. I'm sure there have been bigger ones landed, its just the biggest one caught on my boat. I am sorry for the poor picture quality but you can still tell the size of our fish.

   Now is the time of year for those low tides and great Redfish trips and the way the Trout are bitting it doubles your fun. If you are interested in booking a trip with us email me or give us a call at 985-396-2411. We offer inshore, offshore and bowfishing chartes with lodging packages avaiable.

Capt. Dan Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen;

  I fished with 4 guys in the Leeville marshes Sat. for reds and trout. The winds and tide made for a tough day of fishing. We managed to find reds early fishing the points. They did catch alot of fish but most were under 16 inches. We ended up with 9 reds all caught on live minnows.

   Now the trout fishing in the marsh is great right now. Any moving water you can find will have trout traveling in it. We used the same live bait and drifted with the wind and tide to catch 25-2 to 3 pound
trout. Of course there were lots and lots of under slot fish we threw back.

   Basicly we took a not so great day of fishing according to the forcast and had a great time. Its true over half of the fish were throw backs but it beats not catching any at all.

    Guys and Gals the fishing has been good in Leeville. We are all still here and still fighting to rebuild [with NO HELP from the feds].   If you are interested in booking a trip email me or call us at 985-396-2411. Hi Fishermen;

   It's great to have Mike and the gang back and running again.

   The fishing in Leeville is great. The stormes have pushed fish into the marsh in schools. The deeper moving waters are holding Trout and the ponds and points are holding Reds. Live minnows are the best bait if you can find them. Deadly Dudlys are the next best thing, just pick a color acording to the water clarity.

    We have been out on both day and night trips and had great success. Our bowfishing trips have been great with lots of reds, sheephead and drum running the banks. The Reds have been blowing up on popping corks in the marsh with the moving tides.

    We here at Marsh Master were hit hard by the storms, but by no means are we out. Thanks for all the calls and offers of help. God bless all of you.

It has been so long since I put in a report I am not sure I know how. We have been so busy the last 3 weeks nobody wants to take the time to put in reports. I will try to catch up.

In the last 2 weeks ether Gary or I ran 6 off shore trip with the most noteable guest being Stan Brock and Hokie Gujan. Stan is now a coach for Army. In those 6 trips I think we caught some of just about everything out their. Cobia, Grouper, black fin tuna, red snapper, lane snapper, bee liners, mangroves, and several other kinds of fish.

The bays and islands have been on fire for specks. Some days we have 5 and 6 boats out. With live shrimp, plastics and speckulizers. We have some of the best fishing going that we have had in a long time.

The bow fishing has Dan and Darel running most every night and Dan also helps the rest of us in the daytime. With shark season opening in June we have a new fan boat to hunt the sand bars and the rocks in East Timbalier for trophy sharks.

Now is a good time of the year to go fishing for just about anything that swims. Call a guide and book a trip for your favorite kind of fishing. If you would like to book with us call 985-396-2411

Capt. Dan Bryan

Leeville, LA USA

Hi Fishermen

 Today I fished with Sean Surcouf from the New Orleans area. He brought along Corinne Clotworth, Bret Turner and Chad Landry to see what the Islands had to offer. Sean had made a great trip with me earlier this year. We limited out on Reds by 9 am, so needless to say the pressure was on to have the same kind of day.
Our start was alittle slow until around 9:00 when we started catching Reds. Big, fat, beautiful REDS!!!  We decided to break away form the Reds and try to find some Trout. We had some success but not great. All the Trout we landed went over 3 lbs. with one that went clost to 4 lbs. Around 1 we went back to Red fishing to finish our day.
 We ended our day with 18 Reds and 12 big Trout. We threw live minnows under a Speculizer and D.D.'s on jigheads.

 Thanks guys for fishing with me again.

Marsh/Coastal Fishing Report

Capt Bobby Bryan

Will I guess if you live long enough you will see it all. For the last 4 months 70 percent of the reports on rodnreel were about the LNG loop. Over 90 percent of these reports were trying to figure out a way to stop Shell from having an open-loop. Today I had the opportunity to see just why Shell thought they could and will get away with building an open-loop off Louisiana's coast.

First our politicians are the best money can buy. If you want something in Louisiana money talks. But that is something we have known for years. That is not what makes me mad. Mike Lane and other groups had set up a boat parade and a press conference in front of the Shell building.

Of all guides in Louisiana, the only ones to show up were the MarshMasters group, Peace Marvel and Mike Frenette. If there was another one, I am sorry I missed you. We had one man drive all the way from north Miss and our guides couldn't make the short run.

I also didn't see any shrimpers, crabbers, commercial fishermen, resturant owners, sporting goods stores, boat manufacturers, boat and motor dealers and people that own and use their own boat for pleasure. This could have been one of the straws that help break the camel's back, but, instead we just helped him along. I had determined to help fish this thing in every way I could, but after today it makes you wonder why. If no more than a handfull of people are interested in fighting back, we are wasting our time. I am sorry if this hurts your feelings, but again it might make you get off your butt and do something for once.

THRUSDAY'S AND FRIDAY'S REPORT.

Had 2 Thornburg brothers from New Mexico for 2 days. Thursday we left out with the wind howling at 25 miles an hour. Clean water was hard to find. We went way back in the marsh on the west side of Leeville to find clean water. We manage to catch some nice redfish along with some drums and sheephead with bait shrimp under a cork.

Friday we cranked up the big boat and went to Belle Pass to catch some thing big enough to give them a workout. Anchored inside the rocks and casting a Carolina rig on the bottom with cut poggies for bait, it didn't take long to get a work out. Bull reds and bull drum were feeding in the pass and seem to love cut poggies. About noon they had enough. With lot of time left in the day I decided to give them a taste of offshore. We ran out to one of the nearest rigs and tied up. We dropped down to the bottom to try the mangroves and it did not take long. The first mangrove to come to the top had a bunch come up with him. We changed to drift rigs and cast at the edge of the rig. Soon as the bait got out of sight wham a big mangrove was on. The brothers took turns while one was getting a fish off the other one would be catching one. We came in after a couple of hours with 20 hugh mangroves.

Mangrove fishing is hot. Red snapper opens april 21. Call if you would like to book a trip. 985-396-2411

APRIL MANGROVE MADNESS

Monday I had a group of guys from north La. that wanted to catch some mangrove snapper. With Capt Gary Harp going along for support we left out just before sunrise. The first rig we stopped at was a winner. With cut poggies for bait we droped our rigs to the bottom in about 40 feet of water. It didn't take long until the action was on. We broke off so many times it was not funny but did manage to catch the limit of 60 mangroves, 1sheephead, 1 drum and 1 trigger fish.

Mangrove fishing is as hot as a fire cracker right now. April 21 our red snapper season opens. Last of april and may the big sow trout will be spawning and red fish are everywhere. It's fishing time. If you want to book a trip call 985-396-2411

APRIL MANGROVE SNAPPER MADDNESS.

Headed out this morning before sunrise with four guys from north La. and Capt Gary Hart as my deck hand. Mangrove snapper was our target. With poggies for bait we let our line down to the bottom at the first stop and we found the mangroves. We had trouble with the big mangroves breaking us off and large red fish that seems to be everywhere. We did manage to catch our limit of 60 mangroves, 1 drum, 1 sheephead, 1 trigger fish and several large redfish. What a great day on the water.

Mangroves are turned on like crazy. April 21 red snapper season opens. Last of april and may our big trout spawn and redfish are everywhere. It don't get no better than this. If you want to book a trip call 985-396-2411. Food and lodging avaible if needed.

Hi Fishermen;
   I fished with Tom Lane and his family today. They drove in from Baton Rouge last night hoping today the wind would lay down and the fish would bite. Well the wind didn't lay and the fish had lockjaw. Tom's 2 boy's Malcom, 13 and Archer, almost 9 both fished hard all day trying to make the fish bite.
   We threw almost everything we could think of without much luck. Our total catch was 4 Trout and 3 Reds. The boys had a great time but it would have been better if the fish had co-operated. Thanks guys for giving it a try on such a tough day.

   If you are thinking about marsh fishing, WAIT. Unless you are one of thoes guys that likes a challenge.
  With the full moon we have been having the last few nights the Reds are feeding at night. If you are one of the lucky ones catching fish in the daylight hours I am sure proud for you. Their patern will change soon and everything will be back to normal, this I am sure of.

    If you are interested in recieving more info about any of our guided trips email us or call at 985-396-2411.

Hi Fishermen;

  The weather and the fishing has been great for the last few days. I fished with a group from New Orleans Friday. Steve Cason booked 2 boats for a day of Trout and Reds out around the islands. With an incomming tide the Trout were a little slow but all that we caught were over 2 lb. The Reds were another story, hitting live minnows under a speculizer. We hit our limit only keeping 1 bull. We did catch 6 more bulls and released them unharmed.

   Thanks guys for a great day. If you are interested in booking a trip with me just email us or call us at 985-396-2411. Trout season is just around the corner and we are booking trips now.

   Thanks for reading my reports and as always;

I just got in from bowfishing with Ryan, Matthew, David, Joseph and Clay, the guys had a blast shooting their limit of reds by 1:00. The tide was rising when we left and falling when we can in so we had a dead tide for a while which meant we did not see much for about an hour but the rest of the time it was great. We also had several sheephead and drum and 1 gar about 60lbs.

CAPT BOBBY BRYAN

Leeville, LA USA

We have been doing the tuesday fishing report on channl ABC 26 with Don Dubic for several years. We have a chest full of memories to carry with us for life. Tuesday was one of those days. It will go on top of the pile.

Don arrived about 6:30 for a quick cup of coffee a to get our heads together for the day. His guest for the day was Glenn Shurr of Standard Map Co. The fog was so thick we could not see over a hundred yards. To get across TImbalier Bay with out a gps proved to be a lot of fun. We started to fishing the east end of the island and picking up a few small specks. That was not what we wanted to make the show so we moved to the west end. It proved to be just the right choise. Every cast big trout. It did not matter what color you cast the trout hit as soon as the bait hit the water. Capt Darel came with us and it had been so long since his last day trip he had a ball. Ended the day with 76 mule trout and 3 redsfish.

I Bowfished the Leeville marsh tonight with Alice, Brian, Marie and Chet. This trip was a suprise anniversary for Brian and he had no clue till they pulled in the driveway. She told him they were going to the camp in Grand Isle this weekend, and when she said I think its on the left before the bridge he said are you taking me to marsh masters, and of course then the gig was up. They had a blast shooting time after time at reds drum and sheephead. They ended up with 5 large reds 9 drum and 4 sheephead and a large time.

Hi Fishermen;

   I Bowfished with Ronny Sternfels of Thibodaux Thursday night. He brought along 4 of his clients and friends for a night of shooting Reds, Drum and Sheephead. The wind and cold made the fishing tough, but we still managed to see more than 40 Reds. Thats not saying they hit that many, but they did see them. Here are a couple of pictures.

   For more info or to book a trip with me, just send me an email or call at 985-396 2980.

Hi Fishermen;

   I had the pleasure of fishing with Don Debuc this morning to film his Tuesday night show. It was another cold ride in the marsh but boy was it worth it. The Reds I had found yesterday were still holding in the same area. We made 25 cast and had 15 Reds. It was great, better than great, it was AWSOME!!!!

   We threw live minnows under a cork, live minnows on the bottem and using D.D.s of various dark colors. Check out the show tonight on ABC channel 26 news at 10:00 and Thursday night on B.R. channel 2.

    Guys and gals if you are wanting to catch Redfish now is the time to hit the marshes. If you are interested in booking a trip email me at this site or call us at 985-396-2411. Thanks for reading my reports and
