Dear Governor Blanco

I am a sportsman in Louisiana. I recall that you ran as "The Sportsmen's Governor". As a dedicated sportsman I am writing to ask for your support with an issue that is paramount importance to my family and me.

I am writing to ask you to veto any and all future LNG facilities off the coast of Louisiana that are using the open loop system, also known as open rack vaporizers (ORV).

I am asking you veto any and all future LNG "Open Loop Facilities". I am a responsible citizen and I want Louisiana to take the lead in helping with the expected natural gas shortage that may materialize in the future, but not at the expense of damage to our precious resource, marine life. One just needs to read the slogan on our Louisiana License Plate "Sportsman's Paradise" to find the culture and resource that needs your protection and the Sportsman's Governor.

Seven of the 22 LNG facilities proposed in the Gulf of Mexico intend to use an open loop system. One terminal alone could use up to 200 million gallons of Gulf water a day to "re-gasify" the natural gas. The drastic temperature change and physical damage caused by the process will destroy fish eggs and larva by the billions. For example, Shell's Gulf Landing facility could impact red drum in the Gulf by as much as the equivalent of 3.8% of Louisiana's annual landings according to the latest analysis.

The potential negative impact of open loop flow-through systems must be prevented. The devastating impacts to our marine resources are easily avoided by requiring LNG facilities to use closed loop systems. We need your support to protect the important marine resources in the Gulf of Mexico.

LNG Closed Loop Systems, the Sportsmen's choice and I hope the Sportsmen's Governors choice!

Sincerely,

Your Street Address

Stop Open Loop LNG Facilities in the Gulf

Let's keep the Open Loop LNG Systems out of Louisiana and the entire Gulf of Mexico!

We will store any documentation that is necessary to validate your signing request on our server. Please do not alter the subject, as it is part of the validation process.

If clicking on the above link does not work:

Send an Email to:

With the subject of: Via RodnReel.com - I Oppose any and ALL Open Loop LNG Facilities in the Gulf of Mexico

Please include your FULL NAME, STREET ADDRESS AND PHONE NUMBER (including your area code) in the body of the Email.

Feel free to ad any personal comments, if you like!

Your name will be added to the petition and a copy of your email will be available for verification, should that be required.

Let's show Shell and other oil companies that we understand that we welcome closed loop LNG facilities but we don't want our marine resources destroyed by Open Loop LNG Facilities to generate a slightly higher profit for the oil companies.

Please sign up today, we can handle the volume of emails, tell all your fiends!

If we get enough emails we will let them weigh them instead of counting them!
