The Fall fishing patterns is starting.
We got our first cool front and the water temp is dropping. The flounders are starting to show up.
The birds are working all over the lake with lots of trout & redfish mixed in. with lots of shrimp popping up all over.the redfish are coming out the marshes .and the top water bite is on .my last trip i had 45 trout & 15 reds all caught on topwater.

I just want to thank the guy who gave me his extra cockahoes at Point au Chenes launch saturday around 1:00. Just to let you know we took them to the mouth of Lake Chien. There was a nice tide rolling into the lake. We fished the opening Carolina style with the cockahoes and finished the afternoon with 40 trout from the 12" to 3# range. Thanks agian because I was not planning on using cockahoes but that was all they wanted. Hope the info helps in the future.

Ike put us out of buisiness for a little while but we are back !!!!

Fishing season has officially began.
the white shrimp are coming in the lake & thousands of fish are with them. its like a big feeding frenzy the trout and redfish are indulging themselves. you can actually see the shrimp jumping out of the water & the fish are right on there tails. your actually catching fish ever cast. we had five boats  go out on Saturday March 22 with almost 400 fish caught on soft plastics,norton sand eel & bull minnows color didn't matter and just a few where caught on top water

Just wanted to give a little fishing report for the early spring.
I've been getting in a few days here and there in between the cold fronts of course a lot of redfish there isn't a problem getting a limit of reds every trip even on top water. I did a few days of wade fishing looking for some big trout throwing some corky's. i have a good friend from texas with me that would be Neil Wirth here for three days he came two weeks ago and we caught some nice trout in the 3 to 7lb range with a good many from 4 to 6lb range  yesterday  and today we went out just checking out a few different areas  for the first time we seen some birds working and we picked up over 20 trout the water tempature is starting to stay in the mid 60s so it's about time for the fishing to be unreal we were throwing the big super spook black with yellow head they were hitting it like it was there last meal.

the fishing is great on calcasieu lake like always lots of limits of trout and redfish some of the smaller fish are under the birds the bigger trout are on the reefs from 18 to 24 inch trout and occassionally some of the bigger fish 6 to 8 pound range are biting top water

no wind ,no rain perfect fishing weather schools of redfish everywhere
out in the middle of the lake not a ripple on the water .giant redfish were chasing shrimp busting out the water alot of them where over 27" but they where fun to catch.birds where working everwhere.by the end of the day we had 60 trout and 12 reds and 1 flounder

left the dock around 6:15 was a little windy  not to bad.fished a little bayou feeding out the marsh picked up 15 trout and a few red and a couple of flounder . the wind layed down some more so we went out and hit a reef about a half a mile from shore
on the west side of the lake were we finished off our limit of trout

The water has hit the magic number 70 to 72 degrees. the fish are  starting to turn on. Even though it has been windy the top water bite is taking off .we fished the last couple of days on the south end of the lake staying close to the shore line. We picked up almost a limit of trout & some nice reds. half of the fish was caught on black super spooks the other on soft plastic northon sand eels(lsu).
so when the wind lets up its going to be some great fishing..

It looks like we are gonna have a great year of fishing we had a few boats go out this past weekend we atarted out on the south end of the lake around the old jetties, there were some birds working already.
we caught some nice trout and some small reds then we moved over to west cove  to fish some oyster reefs where we picked up some more trout. which were running a little bigger .
later that day it got real calm so we decided to hit the middle of the lake and found a few birds picking on some big reds, like from 25" to 32" big schools like i have never seen in 2 to 3 years. overall we seen 5 or 6 schools. so we had to release alot.

Winter time is here which brought some big trout and lots of redfish upon the north end of the lake.
we are catching lots of limits of trout and redfish. we are starting to see big trout in the range of 6 and 7 pounds .which all have been caught on soft plastic and suspended baits such as corkies and catch 2000 .
So Don't let the winter weather stop you from fishing cause the fishing is great this time of the year.

Fall Fishing on lake calcasieu is some of the best it gets. Birds are working ,we are catching lots of limits everyday on the south end of Big Lake and on the north of Black Lake & number of reds are showing up along with the limits of trout. Winter Time is here and the fish are going into a feeding frenzy .

going out today" It had been so windy these last few days.We left the dock about 7:00 in the morning and headed too the North side of the lake. The water was like glass. The birds were
working all over the lake. It was about 68 degrees out side,a perfect day. We followed the birds to
the South end of the lake and THATS!!!
when the"REEL FUN STARTED"!!!The line's
were ZINGING!!!!! We caught 6-grill size Red fish back to back. Dana and
Lee had a blast. We finished off the day back at the lodge relaxing and

Beautiful weather for fishing on the lake the water was
About 70 degrees and you could see clear down about 4 to 5 feet.
Tom, Hugh and Chris let the birds do all the work. We were fishing on the south side of West Cove using plastic and they were hitting on everything!
They were worn out after they caught 3 limits.
CAPT. Mark said those old Sow’s were fattening up for the winter.
The weather is expected to stay about the same for another week
