gumed up carb burnt my piston in my third cylinder this might be a stupid question but whats the going rate to bore and rebuild a 50horse 98 yamaha

if you are serious about spending the dollars on a 12 year old engine i would suggest you bore all 3 cylinders(i recomend larrys outboard service for the boring hes been doing it 25 years or more)hes located albany area.
boring,3 new factory pistons rings,gasket kit carb kits crank bearings wrist pin bearings new water pump complete kit 3 new ngk spark plugs
i rebuilt a 50 yammie at a local dealer in 2007 if my memory is good i think the estimate came in under 2000.00 dollars with a 90 day shop warrasnty

thanks for the reply. 2000. is the bid wich is less than a new engine but still a hard choice it goes on my 16ft flat wich i fish and hunt with

waiting on a new head ended up at L&T in lafite but just picked up a 15fter with an 90 nissan ,needs carb rebuilt wont start need some help wish i would have come to this forum earlier.

oh well, we tried. are they doing the cleaning on the carbs? i hope you ran a compression before you bought. if they are making the repairs, when you go to pick it up, have them do a compression while you watch to be sure you aren't getting a bad motor.
