Depending on the season and conditions, other species such as flounder, bay snapper and black drum are regularly caught. To ensure "the magic," Nunez uses live bait, including shrimp, croakers or cocahoe minnows."I’ve found that when the shrimp are in season, there’s no bait that is that effective," Nunez said. "When the trout are feeding under the birds, they’ll hit anything. But in any other situation – live bait is the ticket." The Fishing Magician encourages his customers to use whatever they feel the most comfortable with – from soft plastics to topwater plugs.
In the colder months The Fishing Magician targets areas such as Bayou Loutre, Bayou Sue, Bayou Grande, Biloxi marsh, Stump Lagoon, Bob’s Lake, Crooked Bayou and Bayou LeRoy. In the spring as the fish leave their deep-water haunts and spread out across the coastal bays, Nunez changes his strategy. He concentrates his efforts on Lake Eugene, Bay Eloi and Lake Robin, in back of Hopedale.
In late spring and summer, the speckled trout craze is on once again. Nunez heads to the Breton Sound, where he focuses on the gas and oil platforms of the big, open water. During this time of the year - peak season, the fishing is fast and frantic."The action is incredible," Nunez said. "This is when they're really stacked up. It’s not unusual to catch 150 or 175 before 10:30 a.m." It’s the kind of day that customers dream about. ![]() [Home Page] [AREAS] [Directions] [Packages] [Fishing Reports] [Photo Gallery] For advertising information click here. | Email LA Fishing & Hunting Our high speed connection to the Internet is provided by Broadband IP All content on this site Copyright 1995-2009 Rigs, Reefs & Wrecks Inc. |
