The weigh in and awards ceremony will be held at Venice Marina in the fishing capital of the world...Venice, LA.
- Cross the Mississippi river via the Greater New Orleans Bridge (GNO sometimes called the CCC). The middle lane will bring you to the Elevated Westbank Expressway.
- Two miles from the foot of the bridge will be the Lafayette Street exit. Take this exit.
- Turn left at the light (Hwy 23 or Belle Chase Hwy). The Belle Chase Tunnel will be 3.5 miles from this turn. For the rest of the trip, the mileage I list will be reference distance from the tunnel.
- The Naval Air Station is 4.4 miles.
- At 15 miles is BP Refinery
- At mile 36 you enter Port Sulphur. Be sure to observe the speed limits going through this town.
- The Empire Bridge is next at mile 48 soon followed by the Buras Flag Pole at mile 54.
- At mile 67 will be the Light House Lodge, followed by Venice Inn.
- At mile 68 will be Ellzeys Hardware which is basically the end of Hwy 23.
- Continue past the heliport to the stop sign.
- Turn right and drive for 2.5 miles.
- Turn left at the corner displaying the Venice Marina sign.
- One mile down you will turn right onto a shell road. You are now in Venice Marina.
