Reel Peace Charters

Captain Peace Marvel has pioneered much of the offshore fly fishing in LA. Year round Venice offers excellent fly fishing opportunities for dozens of species. Whether you're an experienced fly fisherman looking for a world record fish or a novice looking to catch your first salt water species on the fly, Reel Peace Charters can provide everything you need for a fly fishing adventure of a lifetime.

We provide top of the line Orvis fly rods and reels for catching all species of fish from Speckled Trout to Tuna. Because of Venice's strategic location in the heart of the Great Mississippi River Delta, a wide variety of fly fishing trips are available.

The famous Chandeleur Islands are a short run from the marina and offer excellent wade fishing for Speckled Trout, Redfish, Ladyfish, Spanish Mackerel, Flounder, Jack Crevelle, and occasionally even Cobia and Tarpon. Several world record fish have been caught at these Islands.

The many oil platforms off the coast of Louisiana create reefs that are teeming with life. Once we hook up to a platform and start a chum slick we never know what will come up and take your fly. The more shallow platforms say from 50 to 200 feet can offer non stop action with a mix of species including False Albacore, King Mackerel, Spanish Mackerel, Barracuda, Pompano, Cobia, Bluefish, Trigger Fish, Jack Crevelle, Almaco Jack, Amber Jack, Red Snapper, Lane Snapper, Mangrove Snapper, Vermilion Snapper, Grouper, Blacktip Sharks, Brown sharks, Lookdowns, and many, many more. The deep water platforms and buoys hold most of the above mentioned species but also good numbers of Blackfin Tuna, Yellowfin Tuna, Skipjack Tuna, Wahoo, large sharks, Dorado and other pelagics.

The gulf stream comes as close as 5 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi River bringing with it all the species that ride this cobalt blue conveyer belt of food. Although we often find large numbers of Tuna and other fishes on the rip line the species we most commonly target here is Dorado. From May through October cruising the rip is almost guaranteed to produce respectable catches of Dorado to 50lbs with numerous fish in the 15-25lb class. These are Captain Peace's favorite fish to catch on the fly and he wrote the book on this action in Louisiana. Aside from being beautifully colorful fish Dorado are amazing acrobats and even a small fish can give you a fight you'll never forget.

From fall through spring the Saccett Banks or Midnight lump offer fly anglers the best Tuna and Wahoo fishing in the world. Offshore currents swirl around this ancient coral head pushing up nutrients from the bottom and drawing incredible numbers of fish to the sight. Don't be surprised if the lump produces the next world record Tuna or Wahoo. We have landed tuna to 74lbs and have hooked many dozens of Yellowfin in the 100-150lb class. It's only a matter of time till one makes it to the boat.

No matter what species you wish to target and no matter what your level of skill, Reel Peace Charters can assure you a fly fishing adventure you'll never forget.
