Has anyone been monitoring the possibility of some serious coastal flooding sunday through tuesday. I am concerned about grand isle. Just 2 weeks ago the water came up from 2 days of heavy north winds. If anyone has any helpful info or resource to monitor please let me know. I am debating going down to the island tonight (after the tigers win!) to pick up a few things from the camp. Any info is a greatly appreciated.

BEAUTIFUL DAY AND A GOOD CATCH!

Yesterday, Friday Nov.6 I had the pleasure to guide Danny, Brad and Randy. We left out of the Delta Marina in Empire, LA. With all of the northeast wind we have been having, it was the first time I have fished on the west side of the Miss. River in quite some time.

We headed down toward Buras, and the first stop was the right stop as the guys were pulling Speckled Trout over the gunnel from the first cast. Danny, Randy, and Brad had a great time putting 60 Speckled Trout on ice by 10:00 am as we had to get back in early.

THANKS GUYS! LOOK FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT ONE!

FISHED AND FILMED ON THE CAUSEWAY-LAKE PONCHARTRAIN THIS WEEK!

On Tuesday Nov. 3, I had the pleasure to fish with my neighbor and good friend Joe Cherry on Joe's ROCKET bass boat. Joe and I invited Mike Lane to join us to fish and film on the trip.

We launched in Mandeville and fished the north shore up to about eight miles out. It was a beautiful day to be on the water. Light wind and clean water on the north side of the lake. We had a good trip and a great time catching Speckled Trout, Flounder, and Puppy Drum. All fish caught on plastic Hybrid Flurrys and Gulp Shrimp.

We got a good show for Mike Lanes Sportsmans Paradise TV and will be back out to do another when this weather settles down.

LaPlace, LA USA

Regarding the question concerning ethanol in some gasolines and not others, the EPA ethanol regulation requires that all refiners who process greater than 155,000/day of crude oil and employ greater than 1,500 employees, MUST add ethanol (at 10% volume level) to 20% of their total gasoline sales.  Smaller refiners are exempt from this regulation until 2012. I believe the Exxon/Mobile refinery in Chalmette falls under the small refinery exemption.  That is probably why you see Exxon stations in the greater New Orleans area with ethanol free gas.  ALL Shell stations (100%) have gone to ethanol gasoline.

Hope this answers your questions.

PeeWee's Big Adventure

Chef Pass, LA USA

Fishette talked me into making a short trip to Chef Pass this morning with the PROMISE of lots of big trout in the goehegan (sp) canal, 'only 5 minutes from the launch'...

After filling up the live well with some beautimous LIVE scrimps, we headed to her newfound honey hole, only to get skunked! Picked around a few holes (man there's some deep spots in that canal) we still came up short so into Lake St. Catherine we went where the birds were frantically feeding along a shoreline that usually provides us with a few nice reds and flounders...

The best laid plans of course, and we were skunked AGAIN...

Made the bumpy ride across the lake into one of the passes that runs from the lake into the ship channel and started working the drop offs along the banks and it was on.

Live shrimp, carolina rig lots of weight was the meal ticket today. She had to show me how to fish the 'bottom' and it wasn't long before I was catchin up with her, mostly to keep her from cackling me out of the boat.

Hard falling tide, and murky water on a scale from 1-5 I'd give the quality a 2 but the fish were along the 'oyster shelfs' and provided us with enough action to keep us busy for the next 2 or three hours.

Final COUNT: 25 specks, no golly whoppers but no need to measure em either, and 8 nice white trout. Threw back a 6 inch flounder and a few wayward drum and catfish.

Beautiful weather, lots of wind, but all in all one of the most Amazing Adventures of all time, until we get to go again...

Good luck all you weekend warriors.

Wink..You are right. I talked to a tank truck driver in Covington, and he told me the EXXON stations in the Metairie, NorthLake Area are services from the Exxon/Mobile Refinery in Challmette, thus NO Ethanol. North of LaPlace, the EXXON stations are serviced from the BIG Exxon Refinery in North Baton Rouge, which adds the Ethanol. That's the difference. You catching any fish in the Rigolets??  Cyberbill.

Fishing Magician Charters

Today we had two groups out. Capt. Jason had the pleasure of fishing with Steve and his wife Sandy. Today was Sandy's birthday and she wanted to fish for her birthday. So, Steve gave us a call and we made it happen.

Sandy had never caught a red fish before, so that was the first thing they targetted this morning. They fished the Biloxi Marsh and caught 50 trout and 4 reds.

I had the pleasure of fishing with David M. and his two sons. We also fished the Biloxi Marsh catching 90 speckled trout in the 12 - 18" range. All fish were caught 2' under a popping cork using Campo's live shrimp.

So, if you want to catch some fish and have some fun, Fishing Magician Charters is the one. We can set you up with a fishing trip you will never forget.

We also have a boat slip for rent. Give us a call. It has water, lights and a lift.

MidLife Crisis---MLC Charters

Venice, LA USA

Love making reports like this --  Today was day 2 with Dr's Ken, Charlie, and Melvin.  These Drs. fish with me twice a year and for the most part want to catch lots of trout.  This year we had a double wammy with the high river and very strong winds.  Yesterday we worked very hard but didn't find many trout.  Today I headed in a different direction -- I had a plan -- good move!  We made our way out just as light was starting on the horizon and down the river.  Slipped into our spot before the sun was up and before I could get things all set up, Dr. Ken had a big bull red on and Dr. Charlie had a trout on the line.  I set out the anchor and it was on!  Today the trout wanted live shrimp and that's just what they got.  No sooner would the cork hit the water than it was down and a trout was headed to the boat.  A couple of times trout were stolen off our lines and several times the bite would stop.  When it stopped we knew what was happening, big schools of reds were in the area.  Sure enough one and often two guys were hooked up almost immediately.  They would fight the reds in and release them and go back after trout.  Along the way they did put a few of the smaller reds in the box.  By 8:00 this morning they had put 75 nice trout and a bunch of reds in the box.  We went in search of smaller reds and pulled up on a spot and started casting in.  Right off, Dr. Melvin caught a fine 2 lb. trout which he reluctantly released.  Then Dr. Ken's line was streaking out and then Dr. Charlie.  It was almost as fast as they could work.  It was about 8:30 and they told me they would fish until 10:00.  However, the workout and the completely full ice chest made them surrender at 9:15.  It was another fantastic Venice morning.  Back at the dock each person jumped in and helped clean the fish in record time.  Man, I love it when a plan comes together.  Jesus is Lord.

HOPEDALE/BRETON SOUND REPORT.......

I had the pleasure of fishing with Rusty Tardo. We went and did an article on the Pt. A La Hache area to come out in Dec.

It was a picture perfect day. A little chilly in the morning, but eventually turned gorgeous out. We fished a ledge off of a flat in a deep channel south of oak river. We strictly targeted bigger fish and boy were they cooperative! Both of us started out throwing Top Dogs and the fish were absolutely annihilating the bait like you wouldn't believe...... sometimes 5+ times per cast!!! WHAT A START TO OUR DAY!

As the sun came up we switched to sub surface baits, chartreuse colored Mirrodine XL's, That was the next right move to finishing our day. Rusty also caught a lot on a chartreuse Bomber Long A. We fished until around 10 am and caught 50 beautiful fish for this time of year. Close to half of them were 2 1/2-3lbs. We headed back to BSM and broke in the new Live Dock Cam!

Guys and girls THE BEST OF THE FALL SEASON IS HERE!!! If you have never experienced Louisiana Fishing or if you have ever contemplated a guided fishing trip......NOW is the time! Fishing has been completely OFF THE HOOK, and should remain the same throughout the month of December. Some open days are still available, so call asap to make sure you can get one of them!

Daryl - Reel Screamers

Grand Isle, L USA

There is a thin line to walk in any business. Too much information, too much attention and you stand to lose everyone’s attention.

However just like there is a boat show season, there is also seasons for other things. Right now is a bad time of the year to talk fishing because a lot of our summer time diehards are in the woods and not paying attention to what is going on. I received an email just this week asking me if it was true that the AJ season would be closing. This is just another example of why recreational fishing has never had the representation that the other groups had. Most people are spending their time doing other things and this stuff sneaks up on them and bites them in the rear.

Well unfortunately this time of the year is also one of the busiest times for the regulations. You see things going on now are the things that are going to affect you this summer and next. Thus said I do not want to overload you with tales of chicken little but you also have to understand that things are happening now and if they go unchecked you will pay for them later.

A group of us got together and convinced WLF to stand with us to make a statement and take a stand. We were careful that this would not affect the fishery because while the WLF Commission said a lot by rejecting the federal regulations, it was not going to affect the fishery.

As of today I hear that Florida is preparing to take the same stand and tell the FEDS that their science is junk and they can take their junk and do with it what they will. Herein lays the problem. Florida has a 9 mile territorial water line and I am told they have an amberjack fishery in their state waters. So if Florida decides to keep their state waters open to AJ, the FEDS will make a ‘best guess’ as to how many AJ the people in Florida will catch throughout the year and they will deduct this from the rest of the Gulf Waters. This is going to make our AJ season a very short one, if we have one at all.

I have become a face to this to some and my wife is not happy about the amount of time that it is consuming. I have been asked by a lot of people – what’s our next step?

I think that everyone agrees that the next step that has to happen is that we have to address the Feds at the legislative level. Congress wrote the RMSA and it is going to be up to them or the senate to change it.

We have all heard of the oyster issue that has unfolded the last few weeks. Here’s a thought for you. The Times-Pic says that Vitter and Landrieu came together to introduce a quick bill that would block the oyster issue in the senate. The same paper quoted the fact that the oyster industry was a $300 million industry that employed 3500 people. Well 2004 was the last figures that I was able to find but they show that the Louisiana Salt Water Fishing industry is an $800 million industry that employs 8000 people. It’s time that we address Vitter, Landrieu, Cassidy and Fleming and ask, where’s our emergency bill or amendment to the RMSA. Our fishery is collapsing under our nose. We need to write these senators and congressmen as well as all of the members of congress’s National Resource Committee to try to get relief. If you need help with a letter or if you need the contact information, let me know I will do what I can.

You strictly tuna guys better pay attention, they just added blackfin as a controlled species, ain’t gonna be long before you cannot cut up those little footballs for bait any longer.

We will be hashing this out further on the radio at 8:15am on AM 1350 in New Orleans.

Please get involved.

In response to 'Ole Speck

Speck, about 2 weeks ago I spoke to a tanker driver filling the tanks at an Exxon station near my work in Metairie. He told me that from Kenner east, and on up to Slidell and Covington, Exxon does NOT add ethanol to their gas.  In the Baton Rouge area, however, they do add ethanol. Don't know why they differ with the regions. Maybe different suppliers, maybe different palms need to be greased, but that's what he told me.

Just a correction to the ethanol free gas stations. The Chevron in Des Allemands (St. Charles) does NOT have ethanol free gas. They have signs posted on the pumps since my visit on Monday, 11/2/09. I haven't confirmed at any gas stations but a good fishing buddy who works at Exxon down the river says they do not put ethanol in any of their mixtures. Fishing report from Dulac, on Monday afternoon, 11/2/09 catch: 12 specks, 2 white trout, 1 red (another >27" released) water was dirty and the tide was FIERCE, rising tide fighting north wind kept us stationary in several locations. all caught on plastics (purple/chart tail cocahoe on retrieve OR chartreuse sparkle beetle under popping cork). most trout caught drifting open bays (Antoine/Deer), reds in ponds.

Capt. George Ricks / GET-AWAY CHARTERS

Hopedale/Delacroix, LA USA

QUICK "BUMPY" LIMIT!!! Today, "Bump" Perrin brought along pals Scott, and Dale. The wind wasn't too bad as we left the dock. The forecasted 15 -25 mph looked liked the weatherman had screwed up. But, that was short lived. We headed to Lake Robin, and in no time, the guys were hauling in trout! We were using HYBRID FLURRIES and live "boogie" minnows under a cork. It was every cast action for about 30 minutes, and then the wind picked up and the bite slowed. I moved about 1/4 mile to get out of the wind, and it was on again! The guys shedded the corks, and began tossing the minnows into the current, and the trout were almost ripping the rods away from them. At 7:55 a.m., the guys had their limit of 75 nice trout in the box, and we headed off to find some Reds. The reds weren't hard to find, but keeper Reds were. They caught 26 Reds, all 15 to 15 1/2 inches, but they did manage to catch 3 keeper Reds, almost 25 inches each. It was a great day with great guys. Bump booked another trip next Friday.

The fall trout action is unbelievable! Even on the windiest days, limits of trout are hitting the box!! If you want to get in on some of the best fishing of the year, call me at GET-AWAY CHARTERS, (985)630-2923 or (601)799-4280 amd book your charter now! Come and see what it's like to fish with a truly PROFESSIONAL guide service.

BEAUTIFUL DAY AT THE BEACH!!!!!! FWTK had 3 boats fishing today.  Capt Rory and Capt Mark helped me out.  Capt Rory got on a good bite early and limited out on speckled trout by 8:40 am.  He fished with  Jessy Mccoy and Dudly Allen  They went after reds early back of hopedale and were not disappointed. They caught 11 reds 3 puppy drum and 4 bass. They could not say enugh about how good the fishing is down here in SE Louisiana. I had the pleasure of fishing today with Rick, Dan and their wives Janet and Vickie. I picked the group up from John Miremonts beautiful house in Fort Beauregard.  We got on a good trout bite early this morning with Rory.  With the strong tide our group was having trouble with the slack in the line.  Rick was on fire early and Dan was having issues with the cork.  I told them that I was going to try something different . I made a move to a bayou off of a bay  odd 4 hourse lake.  Luckily the fish were there and we started putting them in the boat. We were tight lining Campo's live shrimp with a half ounce sinker.  They caught on quick and we started throwing fish in the boat fast. They limited out catching 125 speckled trout, 1 red and 5 flat fish. Capt Mark  fished with Bill Ann and  Joughbourg. He is in town from Sweeden.  They put 60 trout in the boat this morning. The group wanted to catch some reds and Capt Mark put them on 5 reds. Tried to get them to stay on the trout for a while longer but they wanted to show Joughbourg the reds in the ponds. They had a good box of fish.  Fishing is as good as it gets in Fall. Deluxe over nights on the bayou.  Give us a call at 504-881-9966 or 504-887-4960

Glad I wasn't by myself because most of the time I fish by myself.. I know the the hwy 11 and trestles but have only fished the causeway a handful of times.

Not sure how many we ended up with Dr. Dan took them to the office for his staff.

I froze most of the trip fishing in almost my boxers only, and that threw off my game plan as I missed several fished and lost 2 beauties trying to flip in the boat... Anywhoot had a great time.

Doc and I try try to get together atleast twice a week when our schedules don't conflict, and it was nice to fish with (Tommy)Dr. Gumbo it had been awhile he lives off the lake so meeting at Mandeville harbor was only walking distance for him...

Great afternoon guys glad I had the camera and not ya'll and glad your boat had a ladder cause I would have caught hell trying to get back in that twin vee without one.

Also talk to Doc Weiss, John and Bryce, Greg, Chris Edwards everyone was catching... bite was just very slow and finicky had to be ready.. But know throw back at all.

Tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday will be back in Hopedale layem down..

Weekend looks great I will be out in my century with a late start tomorrow due to a meeting at work that doesn't end until 0830 so if you see me in the biloxi marsh gimme a shout, or follow me around we'll help fill your box, back to my stomping ground tomorrow, one day I will limit at causeway.. In the meantime here are a couple pics from our three hour trip yesterday.

The birds are working in Calcasieu Lake. Coming from Texas you would probably want to launch at Spicer's. Rig for plastics on a 1/4 oz. jig head fishing either on top using a cork or on bottom. Some use a double jig head rig. Be courteous to others, don't crowd others on fish, use your trolling motor to approach and leave schools. The wind is supposed to be increasing this weekend which makes it hard to stay on schools. There will be a lot of fishermen out this weekend.

Hey Guys a friend of mine is going fishing in Cocodrie this weekend. He asked me about the area but unfortunately I don't know the area at all. Is their any info I could pass along to him to help him put some fish in the boat. Not secret spots but any area type of baits or fishing techniques that might work a little better in that area would be great. I told him there are a lot of good fisherman that read the reports and they might share some helpful tip's

Thanks in advance Gary

Good luck to all on your next trip!

It is that time again, duck season opens one week from tomorrow.  While getting all the hunting gear, decoys, etc. ready this week I could here the geese flying over heading south. Those sounds, every year, definitely get you excited. From the looks of it, this should be one of our best years in probably the last five. The vegetation is very healthy, it looks almost as if you could walk across the grass in the ponds right now. There are some big flocks of ducks down.  A lot of Pintail (no surprise there), Wigeon, Teal, a few Gadwall, and of course the resident Mottle ducks.  If we can get one more front down here by next Saturday I think that would do it. I will be doing a lot of scouting this upcoming week, but as far as I can tell right now the hunting should be excellent. We've got open days during duck season right now. Don't miss out.  You can also mix it up with a little fishing as well.  Trout and Red fishing always goes good with duck hunting in Venice.  I have included some pics. from last year.  Give us a call!

Leaving for Tuscalooser so this will be
brief. Hit the Causeway twice yesterday,
3 ours in the am and 2 hours in the
afternoon. Ended up with 21 trout, 1
flounder, and 6 drum (released). Lost 5
more trout at the boat and missed about
327 bites throughout the day. I will say
that this is one tough place to catch
fish. But it's in my head so I will be

WOW, can't believe its been three weeks since I last fished. Was starting to have withdrawal symptons.
Picked up my boat Tuesday from the shop and decided to make an evening trip into the Rigolets. Started out trolling the shallow water shoreline in the Rigolets looking for some big flounder. The water was murky and after 15 minutes I decided to try trolling the shoreline towards Sawmill pass. Picked up a few here and there. As I was heading in I decided to try a spot in Lake Pont that produced Reds for me last year.
They were there but were mostly throwbacks.
Days catch:

9 Trout
3 Redfish (12 throwbacks)
1 Flounder

Headed out Wednesday morning about 9:00 and hit some of my Lake Pont spots. Not to much action except for throwback reds so I headed
for the shallow water spots in the Rigolets, slow here also so I decided to head into Lake Catherine. Tried Tru-Loix point, Counterfiet Pass and trolled some shoreline, only had two throwback Redfish.
Headed back again to the spot that had produced the reds yesterday evening. First cast was a throwback Red and then nothing. Trolled a short distance and found the specks stacked up. Had to pick through the throwbacks and it was getting dark so I headed in leaving them biting.

Days Catch:

18 Trout (about 15 throwbacks)
2 Redfish (10 throwbacks)
1 Flounder

Yesterday I had the pleasure of fishing with John Kelly, his wife Flo, and their friend Jack. It was a beautiful day. I decided to try our luck in the back of Hopedale.

It turned out to be a good decision. The guys caught 65 speckled trout and 8 reds. They called it a day at 12:00. They had more than enough fish. All fish were caught on Campo's live shrimp fishing 2' under a popping cork.

Guys the weather has been beautiful and the fishing has been great. So, give us a call to enjoy some fantastic fishing.

We still have one boat slip available for rent which is not too far from Campo's Marina, where you can get your bait and fuel on the way out.

In response to your observation of someone filling up a huge ice box with speckled trout when the limit is 25 there is a solution. Call Operation Game Thief at 800/442-2511. I have also seen people catching 5 or 6 limits of reds at a time at the Pen...My solution? Call the above # give a description of the boat in question, boat #'s, type of offense, etc. The WL&F people will either show up in a boat or be waiting at the boat dock. Any idea what the penality is for what you witnessed? Think the offenders will be fishing from the bank in the future using plastics due to not having enough money left for live bait and no boat. Add WL&F 800/442-2511 to your cell phone address book. Remember "Evil exist because good people do nothing".

Day 1 with the Dixon gang from GEORGIA1

Started out this morning with Walker and his son Randy Dixon along with Mullet Lip Donny and first timer Jimmy and headed out to where I left them biting yesterday.
The trout were still there but the porpoise were destroying the spot when we got there.
Moved a little further down and got on a quick bite on the plastics putting 40 in the gloo and releasing as many 12"tighteyes.
Moved to the next stop and added another 20 and the bull reds crashed the party with Randy putting a 15# brut in the net and releasing her unharmed them Mr Walker was spooled by one he couldn’t turn then I broke one off before the boat then Jimmy landed a 16# brut and did the quick release then Mr Walker struck again and fought a monster to the boat that spit the hook at the last second....it was just getting nuts with bull reds so we made another jump and hit a drop off with the double plastics and they started rippin some more lips till 100 hit the deck.
Mr Walker was getting a kick out of this two at a time thing especially on the plastics.
Them trout were taking a beating like a bull dog from a tiger or maybe a falcon from a Saint ....well you get the picture!

Daryl - Reel Screamers

Grand Isle, LA USA

History was made today at the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Commission Meeting.

For the first time in history the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Commission voted not to follow the more stringent Federal Regulations issued by the National Marine Fisheries Service.

There were three agenda items effecting both commercial and recreational interest. All three agenda items involved changing the Louisiana regulations to match the federal regulations as has always happened in the state of Louisiana.

Recreational fishermen, charter boat operators and CCA Louisiana all gave presentations and arguments about the lack of reliable science in the fishery and the fact that on the heels of this faulty science, NMFS continues to more restrictively regulate the fishery.

The Commission voted unanimously to stand in protest with the citizens of the state of Louisiana by leaving the Louisiana regulations as they were today in the grouper, tilefish, red snapper and amberjack fishery.  The vote, while tremendously important and a powerful statement is purely a symbolic gesture of unity with the ever growing lack of confidence for the NMFS to regulate our fish.  Louisiana waters generally extend out 3 miles and is not deep enough to provide habitat for any of these fisheries. The action should have no impact on the fishery itself.

Enforcement was the biggest concern about leaving the regulations as they were as enforcement agents worry that they would now have to patrol open waters.

We would like to thank everyone that showed up at the meeting and voiced their concerns.  We would also like for all of you to stand up and take notice of what happened here today.  There were about 10 speakers with a few others in the audience that filled out paper comment cards.

You need to get involved. We had a good showing today but it is going to take more involvement than this when we get to the federal level.

THANK YOU  LDWLF members.

On a side note, let’s show enforcement that we are willing to police ourselves.  Please report anyone that you see taking any of these fish in Federal Waters.  They will be enforced under the federal regulations now and carry a much stiffer penalty.

Fished with Capt. Rimmer Covington this past Monday out of Venice Marina. Rimmer's 39 SeaVee handled the 3-4's like a dream. As always he was a pleasure to fish with. We ended the day with 3 wahoo, 3 dolphin, 1 red grouper, 8 scamp, 2 gag one which weighed 54lbs (6lbs short of the state record). Not a bad day on the water especially for the conditions. If you are looking for a 1st class guide service you should definitely consider a trip with Capt. Rimmer of the Mexican Gulf Fishing Company.

Put in at BSM yesterday at "O"-dark 30. Forty mile drive to the launch with three anxious anglers aboard. Backed the 22' Mako down and thats all that went down. The 200hp 3yr old Yamaha would not trim back down. We got it over to the lift for pick up as I couldn't drive it onto my trailer. Glenn asked us what the problem was. I had gone for the trailer and when I got back to the lift he had my boat out of the water and with a huge screw driver opened a bleed valve that allowed the motor to come down. Glenn said " Go put your trailer back and catch some fish." The motor trim worked perfectly, seems like it was a vapor lock. By the way thanks to Glenn and BSM we were back by noon with 150 white trout caught at the dam in MRGO.

HOPEDALE/BRETON SOUND REPORT....

I had the pleasure of fishing with Erik Sundell (one of Oshcner's finest er docs), his father from Sweden, Hakan (aka Hulk Hogan), his son Malcom, and classmate Robert.

We left BSM around sun up. There was a good chill in the air so we stopped short by Coquille so the kids wouldn't freeze. Immediately the catching began! It was so soon I didn't even have time to familiarize everyone with the drill. I casted and helped the two boys, Hakan just caught on by himself, and Erik went to town. The first stop yielded a good bit of trout then the puppy drum and rat reds took over.

We opted to move a whopping 400yds and came across another steady trout bite. It was ones and two at a time but just steady enough to fill the box. By the time we were about out of storm minnows and the bite slowed, the shrimp appeared about a hundred yards in front of the boat. I eased us up and that was all she wrote. The last 15 trout hit the ice and we were back at the dock by 11. The crew did a great job catching 100 trout, 1 keeper red, and 3 drum.

All fish were caught on Live Boogie Shrimp and storm minnows under corks. Fishing the natural bayous and bays that they dump into. Key is to find the bayous that the shrimp are coming through.

Some of the BEST fishing Louisiana offers is happening right now! Trout, Reds, Flounder, Drum catch them all!!! I've got some open days available. PeeWee's big adventure

Delacroix Island, LA USA

Got an invite to accompany SEATUGGER on a trip down to da island.

Hit SWEETWATER launch just before sunup and Captain Jack was on the dock greeting his customers and helping em get in the water and off to fish. It didn't take us long to make our way over to one of the open bays along the pencil canal where the birds were as excited as a kid on christmas morning...And the fish were right under em too.. one after another, but when the birds left, so did the fish.

We did like almost everyone else and ran around trying to figure out where and what they wanted. Turned out to be tougher than we expected, but we managed to put about 30 specks in the box and Seatugger put one really nice flatbread fish on ice.

Wound up in 4whores lake and found clear water and good tide and light breeze that made an easy drift without having to troll... started picking off fish 3 to one throwbacks though, mostly under cork on a white DOA or speckulizer. The would hit a white grub too but not as agressively as the shrimp.

As we arrived back at SWEETWATER, it just happened that Captain Jack was coming back in at the same time. We had a chance to meet Cindy and she and Jack are going to set that area on fire with customer service, smiles and a really fine launch... they're building one helluva lodge way up in the clouds. If you haven't been down there yet, you gotta go see these really nice folks. Capt. Jack will put you on the fish, and Cindy keeps him running back and forth making sure things are ship shape.

Fishing's HOT in delacroix and Sweetwater's the place to start.
